A BIT ABOUT ME
My name is Nicky and a few years ago I decided to have a career change. I’m a pretty keen runner but unfortunately I suffered some serious injuries that made me take time out, re-evaluate what I was trying to do and look at my strength and self-care to try and get me back to running. Out of these awful experiences, I learnt a lot about the body, in particular running and the important role of strength work, so I quit my graphic design job and trained to be a Personal Trainer with my main interest being injury prevention and rehabilitation. Since my Cert 3 and 4 in Fitness, I have gone on to become a Rehab Trainer, Functional Trainer, Pilates Instructor, Massage Therapist and Remedial Massage Therapist. I formed my own business – Remedial PT & Massage – in early 2013 and my aim is to help people to not go through the experiences I have, and to be fit and strong enough to do what they love to do. You can’t always prevent injuries, sometimes we don’t really know how and why they happen, but the majority of injuries are due to lack of strength, inactive muscles, poor posture, inadequate recovery and poor training techniques. I help to identify these problems and then help you to work on them through release, strength work and knowledge. I have also been lucky enough to work with elite sports teams and athletes such as Brisbane Lions AFL, Hawthorne AFL, Athletics Australia, Queensland Academy of Sport, Queensland Bulls, QLD Under 21 Netball, QLD Over 30 indoor Netball, British Swimming and with various running groups in Brisbane.
